Another busy week for the online South Hams Chess Club saw no surprise results; although it saw James Fowler move into the top half of the Homan League, with two good draws against Clifford Peach and the high flying Chris Willcox. In another important game it saw Quentin Thwaites win against Phil McConnell. Club Champion Steve Levy remains on a 100% winning run, 13/13 beating Chris Willcox. This was a top of the table clash with much riding on the result. With Steve winning it really has made it interesting for five or six players trying to reach the final play off places in April. Other results were Tony Tatam beat Trevor Hurt, James Schofield won against Alan Davies and Alan himself getting a draw against Quentin Thwaites. This was a good result for Alan who, although playing well, results just haven’t been going his way.
In other events away from the South Hams Club, Tony Tatam and Clifford Peach have been selected to play for Plymouth. Having drawn and won their first two games their next opponents are MCS Oxford. On paper it’s going to be a tough match.
Over the weekend Tony and Clifford played in the 4NCL weekend congress, playing over 5 games. Both players won points, with Tony finishing on a very respectable 3/5.
